Robbie Keane showed why he is in demand from the Premiership as he salvaged Wolves a draw at home to Portsmouth.
Keane, who had hit the winner in last weekend's victory at Manchester City, struck a 49th-minute equaliser for a side who had lost their way after a bright start.
The Irish teenager latched onto a flick on from Havard Flo to a long kick by Portsmouth born keeper Mike Stowell, went round defender Jason Cundy and let fly with a fierce left-foot shot that Andy Petterson touched but could not stop.
It was a piece of high-class finishing and lifted Wolves at a time when they were coming under pressure from their fans for a first half fade out.
Pompey had gone in front in the 36th minute when their £1million club record signing Rory Allen raced through to beat the advancing Stowell after home skipper Keith Curle had failed to apply enough pressure to a chested back-pass.
And Pompey could have been two up just before the break but Allen was halted by a brilliant saving tackle by Neil Emblen after going round Stowell following another long kick by keeper Petterson.
Earlier, Wolves fans had given a magnificent ovation to Steve Bull on the day he gave a farewell wave from the centre circle after his recent retirement due to knee trouble.
The man entrusted with his famous number nine shirt, Flo, had a difficult afternoon, hitting a close range shot against Petterson's legs early on from an Andy Sinton centre and then heading high and wide when Darren Bazeley crossed from the right.
Keane, unlucky when he headed against the underside of the bar midway through the first half, was himself guilty of a bad miss when he nodded over from six yards after a headed pass by Steve Sedgley midway through the second period.
But Wolves lived dangerously at the other end when Guy Whittingham, who has had two loan spells at Molineux, looped a shot over Stowell and saw Kevin Muscat produce an heroic headed clearance off the line.
