Steve Coppell's Crystal Palace stretched their unbeaten run to four matches by destroying pitiful Portsmouth at Selhurst Park.
A first-half strike from ex-Pompey man Matt Svensson and further goals after the break from Wayne Carlisle, Chinese international Fan Zhiyi and Hayden Mullins settled the issue.
Portsmouth have a poor record at Palace with only one win in 33 years. Any possibility to change their fortunes fell apart on 20 minutes when Svensson struck a beauty from just inside the area.
Lee Bradbury, like Svensson a former Pompey favourite, did all the hard work on the left touchline before laying on a perfect square pass to the Swedish striker, who curled a shot round a despairing Andy Petterson and into the roof of the net.
Palace remained the stronger side and dominated the midfield with Stephen Thomson and Mullins in control.
Bradbury missed a good chance from 10 yards out and before the break veteran defender Andy Linighan planted a header against the crossbar with Petterson well beaten.
Pompey struggled in all departments and they had to wait 35 minutes before registering their first shot on target, with Eire international Alan McLoughlin shooting form 20 yards.
The Eagles didn't have to wait long before adding a second in the 59th-minute. Portsmouth failed to clear and Thomson, on the edge of the box, fed Wayne Carlisle, who struck a left-footed shot from 20 yards out for his first ever goal.
Four minutes later Fan Zhiyi got in the act when he nodded in a Carlisle cross for his second goal of the season.
Portsmouth's approach work showed promise but lacked penetration. In injury time their miserable afternoon was complete when Mullins capped a fine performance with a well placed header following Bradbury's cross from the right.
