POMPEY SIGN A SCUMMER
Wednesday, 27 June, 2007
Pompey have signed defender Martin Cranie from scumpton on a three year deal. Pompey will pay an undisclosed compensation fee to the scumpties for the 20 year-old after he declined the offer of a new contract at scumpton.
Harry Redknapp said, "Martin is a very promising young player who has the ability to go right to the very top of the game. I remember when I played him at Man City when I was at scumpton[1] and he did a great job that afternoon on Shaun Wright-Phillips. He has bags of talent and is a great addition to the squad."
Cranie said that he was delighted to make the move along the South Coast, adding, "This is a great opportunity for me to progress as a player. I'm very much looking forward to playing for Harry again and working alongside some of the best defenders the Premier League has ever seen. Portsmouth are a very ambitious club both on and off the field and I want to be part of their future success."
"Harry gave me a break in Premiership football at scumpton[2], giving me three games on the trot, so as soon as I heard Pompey were interested I thought definitely.
"Coming here meant Premier League football and a chance to work with Harry again. Also, the fans here are brilliant, they really love their football.
"Hopefully I can get my head down, work hard and get in the team. I had quite a frustrating season last year, not playing very much. As soon as the opportunity for Premier League football came up I had to take it. I loved it down at scumpton[3] but to be honest it was time to move on."

GRANT OFF TO JOIN JOSE
Wednesday, 27 June, 2007
Portsmouth's technical director, Avram Grant, is set to join Chelsea in the next 10 days. The former Israel manager has formed a friendship with Chelsea's billionaire owner, Roman Abramovich, and after resisting his arrival in January the manager, Jose Mourinho, is now prepared to tolerate his involvement in what is expected to be a
wide-ranging role as director of football.
A source at Portsmouth confirmed that Grant's departure is regarded as inevitable and, although no contract has yet been agreed, negotiations with Chelsea are understood to have started. Grant has been almost anonymous over the past year at Portsmouth and the manager, Harry Redknapp, has made it clear that he would be relaxed about the Israeli's departure.
